Fanatic Friday
Feb 5th, 2010 | By Jake Doerr | Category: FeaturedBench Player Sports Fanatic Fridays is an article of everything from entertainment surrounding sports, and a great way to get ready for the weekend.
13-year-old quarterback David Sills “verbally commits to USC” He would be part of the 2015 recruiting class. This is a non story but it is funny the ESPN’s SportsCenter decided to run with it. (ESPN)
One of the biggest mouths to ever lace up for the Denver Broncos doesn’t believe Brandon Marshall will be back in Denver next year.
“I don’t know how they mend this,” said Shannon Sharpe. ”Help me understand this: How can a guy catch 21 passes one week and then two weeks later he doesn’t even play? Once you go there, once you break that communication, once you break that trust, I don’t know how you get that back.” (PFT)
The say that the Broncos won’t be able to get a first rounder for him but I would disagree that Marshall is worth at least a first rounder. But they should just try to mend it and keep him in a Broncos uniform.
Will something bad happen to Lindsey Vonn? She is on the cover of this week’s Olympic preview Sports Illustrated.
Women Talk Sports has a problem with the cover because it makes her more of a sex symbol then an athlete.
From womentalksports.com:
Vonn is first a GREAT athlete, but she also represents norm of feminine attractiveness. The combination of athleticism and attractiveness make Vonn the likely poster girl of the US Olympic Team, and the media hasn’t disappointed in constructed her as such.
Not to be left out, Sports Illustrated is featuring Vonn on their Feb. 8, 2010 cover. For those of you who follow SI Covers, know that female athletes are RARELY featured on the cover.
Over the last 60 years researchers have shown that about 4% of all SI covers have portrayed women.
When females are featured on the cover of SI, they are more likely than not to be in sexualized poses and not in action-and the most recent Vonn cover is no exception.
I didn’t even realize how little SI decides to put females on the cover of their magazine. SI should really try to put more women on the cover for their sporting acts.
Jake’s Top 5 College Basketball teams
1. Syracuse Orange
They attack the basket like no other team in college. It is hard to guard a bunch of play makers. This team will be in the Final Four at the end of the season.
2. Kansas Jayhawks
1 person has turned this team around and that is Cole Aldrich. He had been struggling but during Kansas’ last four games he has really started to play good ball.
3. Kentucky Wildcats
I thought John Wall was their best player but right now I would have to go with DeMarcus Cousins he is playing fantastic. This is nothing against Wall because he is phenomenal and teams are starting to try and throw him off his game but Cousins should be a top 5 pick as well in the NBA.
4. Villanova Wildcats
Scottie Reynolds is fantastic and is starting to pick better shots. I also love how Jay Wright uses his bench he has 11 players with nine or more minutes.
5. Kansas State Wildcats
What the hell I have three Wildcats in the top 5. But Kansas State deserves to be in the top 5. They have played fantastic and gave Kansas all they good give them. This team should be a force in the tournament. To bad they can’t bring the “Octagon of Doom” to the tournament.
LT Believes Chargers will release him this offseason. Duh, they should have done this a while ago. The person that has an unrealistic vision of what he is a left is always the player. LT is one of those players. He isn’t even a fraction of what he was. Now the real question is who will be the sucker who will sign him in hope he isn’t on empty just yet. Sorry to tell every GM in the NFL he is on empty and is running on fumes. LT can retire and Dance all day.
I am going to ride the Saints all the way to victory because I do not want the Colts to win the Super Bowl. Who Dat. The Colts aren’t Dat. I just love this video.
People thought that it was going to be LeBron vs Wade but it was JJ Hickson embarrassing Wade.
We will leave it with Drew Brees on Sports Science.
