Talking NBA!

Bench Player Sports’  Columnist Jake Doerr talks about the events surrounding the National Basketball Association.

“Shoutout to Lebron, d-Wade, Joe Johnson, and chris bosh for trying to create a NBA2k team. Lol. (they would win 80 games)”

Louis Williams 76ers guard via twitter had that to say about the reports of OPEC meeting, no actually about the Free-Agents Only Seminar between LeBron, Wade and Johnson.

The NBA has strict rules on tampering just ask Mark Cuban but this is a whole new way to tamper and the league has no authority to stop it.

Sometime in June LeBron, Wade and Johnson are all going to sit down and talk about their free agency plans Wade told the Chicago Tribune.

“(Free agency) has been three years coming,” Wade said. “We’ve discussed it prematurely, at different times. (But) you don’t know what guys are thinking and where they’re going. I think we’ll all sit down, and before one of us makes a decision, all of us will have spoken to each other and (listened to the) thinking.

“A lot of decisions (will be based on) what other players are willing to do and what other guys want to do. So it’s not just a ‘me’ situation here. We all have to look and see what each other is thinking.”

You have to think that a well planned and organized attack would benefit all three players. They can setup packaged deals that will get wins and lots of money for each player involved.

This is a great plan and each of these players would compliment each other however if it was all about winning they would all take the veterans minimum and create a team that should only happen in video games. They could create a super team and have a dynasty that could rival the best of all time.

Yesterday Zach Randolph was implicated as a marijuana supplier to the Indianapolis area and all I have to say is, WHY? There is no reason for an NBA player to finance a drug operation.

A stake out on a suspected drug house 2 weeks ago led to 32 year old Arthur Boyd being pulled over in a Cadillac Escalade. The vehicle had marijuana and ammunition inside, and was registered to Randolph.

John Tompkins, Randolph’s attorney, was quoted by 6News saying that Randolph is not connected to any drug activity. He went on to say that the vehicle’s secret compartments were a safety precaution for concealing valuables. The Memphis Grizzlies will release a statement supporting Randolph on Thursday, according to Tompkins.

The Escalade led police to a storage facility where they say Randolph rents four lockers. According to the document, police dogs found controlled substances in two of the four lockers.

It isn’t new that Randolph is in trouble with the laws and probably won’t be the last time either. Last summer in Los Angeles he was arrested for driving under the influence, in 2002 he was arrested for underage drinking and he also was convicted of battery at 17.

The funny thing is that Randolph and his lawyers immidiatly pulled the “a friend was watching that house and Randolph had nothing to do with the drug activity” bull crap excuse.

There is no reason for a professional athlete to even know anyone that is involved in the drug business. Michael Vick  tried all these ploys already and they didn’t work well for him.

Should the NBA 2k series change their name to more of a Madden style marketing with MJ and change the name to Jordan or something else?

Via ESPN

“While rumors pegged LeBron James, Derrick Rose and even Tyreke Evans as favorites to appear on the cover of ‘NBA 2K11,’ multiple sources have told ESPN that the company has gone in a completely different direction, signing basketball legend Michael Jordan as its new spokesman. This will be the first time that a former player will appear on the front of the box for 2K, and with Jordan taking over majority ownership of the Charlotte Bobcats, it will also be the first time that a team owner will endorse the popular franchise.”

I think it would be smart to have the greatest player to ever play the game grace one of the most popular sports games.
