Was Antonio Cromartie Really a Gamble the Jets Should Have Taken?

480091025003_Chargers_v_ChiefsCromartie has shown he can be a good corner back when  he picked off a league high 10 passes in 2007, he also should play better in a defense that can put pressure on the QB. Even with all that the Jets didn’t really need to sure up their defense and now they bring in a guy that has numerous off field problems.

Cromartie is only 25 and is a first round talent that they only had to fork over a 3rd rounder for.  Now we have to ask can Cromartie shut down opposing team’s number two wideout? Yes but why did they need to do this when their offense was the problem, they could have shipped off the same pick to the desert and picked up Anquan Boldin to sure up their offense. Very strange not to mention the off field issues. He has multiple kids with multiple women and they all are wanting the money that he owes them for child support, he was part of the academic scandal at FSU and supposedly can’t read as well.

I don’t hate the choice to go after a player that has preformed at a high level during his career but was in necessary, no.   They could have gotten an offensive player but I do think that this makes them a better team just not what I would have done if I was running the J-E-T-S.
