Joe Mauer Will End Up In…
Mar 4th, 2010 | By Adam Rasmussen | Category: MLBThe 2009 American League Most Valuable Player’s contract runs up after the 2010 season.
Joe Mauer, Minnesota Twins catcher, is coveted by the team, fans and organization. But will the small-market Twins be able to afford him?
Yes. The Twins are not going to let go of this guy, and he won’t let go of the Twin Cities. An icon in Minnesota, Mauer grew up in the Minneapolis area. The Twins will have to fork over $18-22 million per year to keep him, but he’s worth it.
If the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox or Philadelphia Phillies sign Mauer, baseball will take a hit. People are tired of seeing the big free agents all sign with the big teams.
